We love a good drama and The Staircase, which is currently showing on Sky Atlantic has got us hooked. It explores the true story of Michael Peterson and his wife Kathleen and their blended family. Kathleen was found dead at the bottom of the stairs at their home in North Carolina in 2001. Was Michael guilty of murdering her or was it a tragic accident?
The series, starring the hugely talented Colin Firth and Toni Collette has you guessing the whole time as it flashes back to their lives leading up to Kathleen’s death and then back to the fallout from it. It also has the added storyline of French documentary makers who asked to follow the trial and look at the American justice system. The documentary can be viewed on Netflix here. We will definitely be watching it after we’ve finished the series!
