Luxe in the Country was launched in November 2021 by two friends, Sophie Stone and Georgie Hughes, both of whom had moved from London’s city life to Hampshire’s countryside. Noticing a gap in the market, the duo aimed to create an online lifestyle magazine that catered to discerning individuals in the country-highlighting fashion, recent openings, latest trends, culture, well-being, and more.
SOPHIE STONE
Sophie was born in France, but lived primarily in London, focusing on the property sector where she worked in marketing for large companies among those being the renowned property agency, Savills. After having children, Sophie had a desire to move to the countryside so that her boys could have more space to run, enjoy the fresh air and a simpler way of life.
Noticing the popularity of online magazines (and the luxury of working remotely), Sophie worked as an editor for SchoolNotices.co.uk, an online community that connects independent schools, parents, alumni, and businesses. Utilising her experience and the need for better online resources for country living, Sophie developed the concept for Luxe in the Country, hoping it would speak to her contemporaries; career women bringing up their families in the countryside.
Launching her concept, she found her perfect partner in Georgie as they both had substantial experience in editorial and the digital domain to bring the idea of Luxe in the Country to life.
GEORGIE HUGHES
Georgie began her career in London as a property developer. In addition, she produced copywriting material for various businesses, cementing her passion for writing. After having her first child, she moved to the countryside with her family and oversaw the complete refurbishment of their new home. After having two more children, Georgie wished to indulge her love of writing while creating a resource for mothers and their little children. So, she launched minis AND MORE…, a blog that focused on the “mother and child” lifestyle. In turn, Georgie built strong relationships with brands both large and small, which have now embraced the Luxe in the Country platform.
Georgie hopes to expand into lifestyle areas beyond family life through their platform and highlight the benefits and excitement of country living that is not all about wellies and muddy fields (although they have their place!).
